Scolari - No More Cash Splash

Chelsea have been an untouchable spending force in the market when it comes to buying players for half a decade. Since the Russian oil tycoon Roman Abramovich bought the club in 2003, Chelsea have forked out in excess of 500 million pounds on players, most remarkably on the acquisition of Andriy Shevchenko, slaming the British transfer record.

But the recently appointed Blues coach believes that the spending days are over as the Blues already have indispensable quality and a star studded squad. The Blues manager said: "Since I came to Chelsea we have only spent £8million on Deco. Jose Bosingwa arrived before I came."

"Now they don't need to spend as much because they already have a solid base. They need a coach to develop young players and I am that coach."
