Ranieri was infamously sacked by the Russian owner after he failed to deliver any silwerware during the 2003 season. The Stamford Bridge faithful didn't take it as a good omen and concerns were raised about the club's future in the Stanford Bridge stands.
however, Ranieri has spoken of his bitterness after 4 years. He said, "I am bitter. Before Roman Abramovich came to Chelsea, I was doing my job. I carried on doing it for him and wanted to continue. At the end I knew the players and supporters were with me even if the club was not."
On the prospect of being drawn with the Premier League and Champions League runners up, he said: "I would love to play Chelsea. I want to take Juventus to Stamford Bridge, not out of revenge or spite, but just to show the fans, players, and the club, that this is what I do now and this is the team I have built,"
